Sygnus' Curse

This is the curse invoked by the Dark Sygnus Luccious in the final battle of Dreigiau -- Chapter 24-6. The curse was twofold:

  1. A curse that stripped away the wings and memory of the Awakened who fled from Nefol.
  2. A curse leveled directly on SoYa that tied him to the fate of the city of Nefol.

First Effect

The effect of the first curse separated Zemi from the Nefolian people by erasing their memory of their life before Runne and breaking his connection to them by reverting their Awakened form. This effectively weakened Zemi for the future encounter that the Dark Sygnus planned against the Arweinydd. The discouragement Zemi suffered from the curse was so overwhelming that he withdrew from his people, believing them better off without his meddling

SoYa's Curse

Quoted from Dreigiau, Ch24-6:

“You… the son of ZenToYa…”
It felt like the breath was being crushed out of SoYa’s lungs. Shifting tendrils of mist crept over the ground, towards his feet. But no matter how much he fought and threw his will against it, he could not find the strength to move.
“You think you can fight me when your father could not?” the Sygnus sneered taking a slow step forward.
Searing pain raced through his limbs, shadows moving over him, gripping him. For a fleeting moment, SoYa was reminded of the shadows that had taken his brother.
“Would you really give your life for your people? What would you risk to defend your homelands?”
“Every…thing…” SoYa croaked, fighting for breath.
“Then you shall be bound to share the tainted fate of Nefol,” the chilling voice cursed him.
The Sygnus’ silver eyes bore into his own, stripping away all the warmth in the world. SoYa doubled over, the pain becoming too intense for him to bear. His shaking hands struggled to keep grip of his staff, knees trembling and dropping him to the ground. His watery eyes could make out the darkness that had begun to stretch across his skin, spreading from his fingertips and up his arms.

The curse inflicted on SoYa was also a blessing in disguise. Tied into the fate of the Nefol itself, his spirit returned to the city upon his death on Runne and slumbered, rather than extinguishing completely. Eventually, during the Wayrift storyline, his brother TsuYaTai found his way back to Nefol and woke SoYa's spirit once again.

At first, SoYa struggled to cleanse the effects of the Chaos that infested the city of Nefol and himself. This was eventually solved, with much help from KoGuRai. For a while, SoYa was unable to leave Nefol and maintain a physical presence. However, once he took Patronship over the planet, the curse was fully broken and SoYa was restored.
