Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted

Where You Become The Dragon

Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted is a massive multi-player online fantasy RPG that has 11 fantasy  races (including Dragons) and an open character class system featuring 50 different adventuring /crafting schools to choose from. The community is small, helpful and friendly and the game developers are very passionate about their world and players. This game has been around for a while, so it has the feel of a classic type online RPG. However, I’ve found that Istaria is easily modified to get it to perform the way you want it.

The game has been recently upgraded to work on Vista and Windows 7 as well as XP and Windows 2K machines.

There are many races and classes, but by far, the most fun is playing a Dragon. There are a lot of Dragon lovers on the internet — I know that I am one! With the success of online adoptable games such as Dragon Cave, Dragon Adopters and Unicreatures, Dragons have gained quite a following. However in Istaria, you don’t just adopt a dragon, you get to develop your own dragon character through battle, crafting, and roleplay. You can also add treasures to your personal hoard and eventually quest through Rights of Passage that allow them to grow to adult and ancient. Once you become adult, you can take the to skies and fly unhindered all around the world!

Download Istaria for Free

The game is free to download onlineCLICK HERE TO VISIT DOWNLOAD PAGE.

Once you’ve started the download (this will take a while since it’s downloading the whole Istaria world to your PC!), you will have to set up an account. There are different kinds of accounts ranging from completely free to play, on up. It all depends on how you want to experience the world.

Free To Play: That’s right! You can play the whole game for free, no time limit. However,  you can only play a human character.**

This isn’t bad, however, because one character can experience ALL the game has to offer — you can switch between classes anytime you want. So you can be a mage that changes to a fighter that changes to a cleric… etc. The multi-classing aspect of the game is very powerful and is only available to bi-peds (those who walk on two feet – ie. not Dragons). You can basically develop a character exactly the way you want them to be!

**Note: There are reports that when you log in to create your first character, the game will not limit you to choosing just a human character. However, if you create a non-human character, your account will automatically be turned into a 14-day free trail, instead of the free-to-play Demo account (it won’t alert you that it has for some reason). So be careful! Only create one character and only make them human!

Trial Account: This allows you to try the game out free for 14 days with three different characters. You can choose any race you want, including Dragons. If you’re serious in seeing all that Istaria has to offer, this is a great way to test it out and decide if this world will be your new home. The one downside to this is… 14 days is hardly enough to learn how rich this world really is!

If you choose to continue to play the game after 14 days, you will have to upgrade your account to either a Basic or Gifted account. Both have different prices and perks. You’ll have to be the one to decide which one is for you.

Newcomer’s Guide to Istaria

Here is a series of posts that will help the newcomer through Istaria. Though some of it will be general information, much of it will be centered on Dragons…. since that is what I play!
