Waiting Until Level 50 to do the Right of Passage
Is it Worth it?
One choice that hatchlings in Istaria must make before undertaking their Right of Passage (RoP) is whether they wish to do the quests at minimum level (Lunus 30 adventure/30 craft, Helian 30 adventure/45 craft), or if they want to tough it out until level 50 adventure to earn their Simulated Scales. These scales can only be earned while a dragon is a hatchling, before you have committed to your adult faction of Lunus or Helian.
Whether or not you can wait until level 50 is completely a personal choice… some dragons just want their adult form and wings as soon as possible. Others, find the power of the Simulated Scales (which have better stats than Tier V techniques) to be something worth waiting for.

Once you reach adventure level 50, you can begin your Simulated Scale quest by talking to Vladtmordt, located west of the Floating Island. If you haven’t visited him already, there were previous scale quests that you could have received, and you may have to do those before he will grant you this one.
To reach Floating Island, you must travel by way of the North West portal in the city of Tazoon. Click on the map below for more details.
From there, you can glide down off the south western edge of the island to the mountainside to the west. If you follow the road that leads up north and loops around, you will find Vladtmordt waiting there for you. See the map below.
The quest required me to work with Obsidian, which was far above my crafting level (level 50 at the time). So I did have to ask the help of a higher level dragon crafter in order to bring Vladtmordt all the components he requested.

For those hatchlings that choose to hang in there until level 50, I hope this little guide was of some help! Good luck to you on your Right of Passage!
