Remember how yesterday I was praising the Comicpress add on for WordPress? I’m still knee deep in trying to configure my site, but that’s all right. I’m making progress, as slow as it is.

webcomicplanetFor those of you who would like to try out Comicpress but don’t have your own Word Press to host it, I have just discovered a fairly new webcomic host that will let you set one up for free! Webcomic Planet has a lot of great minds and spirit behind the project — it’s certainly something to check out if you’re looking for a free host with a strong platform that won’t plaster a million ads up around your pages.

Here’s some info from their site:

WebComic Planet is a creator-friendly place to host your Webcomic. Your hosting grows with you as you build your audience and bring in more revenue through ads and merchandising.

We start each individual off with FREE Basic hosting — 50 megabytes of disk space to store your comic files, thumbnails, and any other uploaded assets. You can create as many posts and pages as you like. You can also point your own domain at your WebComic Planet site, and you can easily customize your site entirely through custom CSS.

On all Basic accounts, WebComic Planet advertising will appear in the footer of your site. This does NOT limit the advertising that the individual site owner can put in sidebars or other custom places per hosted site.

Each additional 50MB of disk space will cost you an additional $5/month.

Sounds like a good deal to me! Though I haven’t tried the service out (I have my own WP-run sites), the comics I have seen there sport a lot of nice looking templates. I know that Comicpress is easier to use than some of the other free comic hosts I’ve been involved with. And as I said before, the biggest plus to me is the one single banner ad at the bottom, as compared to some hosts that plaster more of their stuff (ads) on your site than you do yourself!

If you’re looking for a free webcomic host to try, give Webcomic Planet a shot! I think it has a bright future ahead!

And Wayrift is in the banner! :D

When I get more done on my current comic-project, this might be a good way to go. (My comics are often spur-of-the-moment ideas that I never do more on because my style’s changed in the year I’ve forgotten about it or I have no idea what happens next, or too many ideas. Or I’m too busy. Hence why I need to get more done and know I’d continue it.)

I highly recommend them! Frumph spent time helping me with my site and I was pretty much a stranger that just twittered to him a few times. He was very patient, helpful and willing to do anything needed, even beyond what I asked. I feel this site is in good management, and that’s something very important to me!

Let me know if you decide to get a webcomic up! I’d love to see it!
