I’d comment, only my attempts at sympathy always sound really fake, even when I mean them. And I have a tenancy to make things worse… Which is why i slink off to the food table at school dances when my friend breaks down about not having anyone to dance with….. –;;;;;

Well, at least you’re still enough of a mind to make yourself scarce. My feet just turn to lead while I panick, trying to come up with something to say, and always utterly fail. The end result is that I just stand there, doing nothing, saying nothing. Just being ‘ehhhh’…
Then when I finally come to my senses (at least half an hour later), I finally start to realize that I just made a complete idiot out of myself. Wooo!
Not entirely unrelated, there’s a reason I never went to a school dance…

My issue is that it is hard for me to explain my feelings about others in words. I normally show it in actions. If I feel that someone is having a hard time, I normally want to spend time with them, make them lunch or dinner, and make them cookies. Being that I am totally across the country, in fact in another country, I can’t really do that. As such, I have to rely on words, which always just seem meaningless to me. Words don’t do much for people, while actions do. It is entirely frustrating not being able to do anything then. >.< Of course, it also doesn't help that I am a scientist and commonly dig a hole and then bury myself in it (metaphorically) when having a conversation. -_-;;;;

I have had grandparents pass on in recent years as well, and it is always hard. Just remember that there are many who love and care for you, and take some time for yourself, and to remember her. Grieving is healthier for you than bottling it up or withdrawing from life. I’ll pray for you. . .
