KY: What? *looks at the sword* I’ve never done anything with this…. *pauses* Waaaait… This was the sword that I gave Cecil to battle evil! What did he do to it?
Leona: Didn’t you hear the tales of the Crystal War? The thing was practically useless until he got the weapon reforged down at the Dwarven Weaponsmith.
KY: WHAT?
Leona: Ye holy killer of butter sticks!
KY: I worked hard on the weapon! Imbued it with my very essence and soul!
Kory: Guess you better take up sandfarming, Craterhead.
Ben: Couldn’t you have made it a little less holy?
KY: It wasn’t meant to chop you up. It was meant to chop up Zeromus.
Leona: Heh.. might have made a better throwing weapon.
KY: Gee thanks. X<

yeah, like cecil’s gonna let edge touch his crystal sword.

Well…. if there was no way to get it reforged… *looks up at the sky and twiddles his thumbs*
I’m just kidding. I keep every sword that I have ever had well-maintained, locked up in a temperature controlled cabinet, and under guard.
*pauses*
Though, I’m beginning to wonder about that ‘under guard’ part. I think I better start looking in the classifieds for a NEW guard. -_-;

Well, if you get new (better? that won’t be proved until they have to defend that room) guards, and they’re competent, if someone tries to steal that sword, what you’ll get is an even bigger mess. Because you know how these things work: not the way they’re supposed to XD

KY: *Storms in* You thought my weaponsmithing wasn’t good enough, huh?
Cecil: Uhh…

Heh…
Well… I guess it’s evidence that even the uber-Munchkin Crystal Master can’t be good at everything now, can he? I mean, the game already gives him credit for being a spaceship builder, somewhat of an architect, and the spirit-on-the-mountain.
He’s not very good of a weaponsmith… the sword was quite crude, and probably very poorly held an edge.
Of course, there are a lot of things that KY isn’t good at:
1) Communication Skills.
2) Getting along with Zeb.
3) Table Manners.
4) Giving ladies credit where it was due.
Honestly, KY is a mean-old-nerd, which no girl in their right mind would want to date.

Wait a second…Legend was reforged into Excalibur and is the sword Cecil received from Klu Ya on the Ordeals, but the crystal sword was found by Cecil on the moon. In this continuity, is this different?

Valer
Nope… You’re right – the final sword is the Crystal (Ragnarok, which Zemi calls lovingly ‘The Rag’). However, BSC has a special place at his side for the KluYa-legendary reforged butter knife, though he will use the Rag if he needs the extra firepower.
The Rag is made out of crystal, but so is the KY sword… actually, by the time that it is reforged by Kokkol, it’s something more of an Adamantium (Yes, FF4 stole every name in the book)-Crystal Metal Matrix Composite? *laughs*
So to put it short =
Ragnarok = Cecil’s most powerful sword = made of some form of refined uber-crystal.
Legendary Sword (What becomes ‘Excalibur’) = Cecil’s favorite sword = (2nd/3rd most powerful sword in the original game. ) = made of KY crystal + Adamant Ore (added later by Kokkol).
Does that help clarify stuff a little?

You realise that a name like “The Rag” is just making me come up with countless immature bad jokes, right?
Give Luv:

Well… doesn’t it make sense that Zeromus (especially if he was a guy monster) would run away from the Rag… ; }

It does. Men and general do that, from my experience.

Zemi did it, not me! And you’re talking about an Arweinydd who doesn’t know what “The Rag” suggests. XD

That clears up things perfectly. I always thought Legend/Excalibur was made of crystal since the shrine atop Mt. Ordeals was completely made of crystal, but the game never made that clear and I considered it a personal opinion. I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one with it!

Aaawww, Klu, don’t be sad. It’s the intention that counts. Think that, even if it was reforged, it’s still the sword you made. And maybe you’re not that good doing swords, but, hey, noones perfect, and you have a lot more skills (it’s more than I can say for myself XD)

I like the jab at Edge’s ability to throw just about anything in FFIV that has an edge to it…
Which, thanks to the weapon dupe bug in certain pre-DS versions, included the Excalibur… and it was, as I recall, the best non-Knife throwing item in the game, which ment more weapon duping for more throwing sword of awesome holyness.
