Ch37 Pg31

Zazo: *gets zapped by the water* AHHHH! AHHHH! *hair sticks up for a second*

Zemi: *out of breath* It worked!

Zazo: *shakes herself out, howls, and with her windcrystal power, sends a big wave splashing straight at Zemi*

Zemi: *stares at the oncoming wave* Not… good…

Well. I had a feeling that it would end badly for Zemi. I just forgot that it would also reveal his weakness to Zazo as well. Huh.

And by the way, now would be an equally mean time to cut back to the crystal room… And just as equally good story telling. I noticed that you two seem very good at cliffhangers.

Art wise I find Zazo’s water logged hair both funny and well done.

It was fun to draw a frizzy Zazo as well. :)

I knew that it would back fire. But like Canuovea I didn’t foresee Zazo figuring water would hurt Zemi as well.

    Zazo: 2
    Zemi: 10

I have a feeling who’s in the lead is going to change again though.
Better run, Zemi. Unless someone will come to rescue you with a really big umbrella or something.

Heheh… that’s a pretty big jump for Zemi’s score there!

Oooh just a quick thought. What do Arweinydd and Triffids have in common? An aversion to water (though the man eating plants are more specific, it takes salt water), so now I can rest comfortably knowing that my water gun is useful for more than one set of alien invaders! joy.

If Zemi would just get on the planet’s good side, this kind of stuff wouldn’t happen!

Waterballoons — the super-secret anti-Arweinydd weapon! Who would have thought?

aw, poor Zemi’s all clawed up.

And now they’re both going to be wet and crackling.

I wonder where Tai ran off to. He might be watching and learning from this.

dit is een voorbeeld van de Nederlandse taal veel plezier met het vertalen ervan

Well, I’m very impressed — I always am when I meet people who know more than one language! I mostly know only English (with a little tiny bit of Spanish from college classes).

I hear that English is one of the hardest languages to learn — so many words are spelled differently than how they sound. I think you’re doing a great job, so don’t worry about your English one bit!

            *wants to point out something*
English is kinda easy to learn, especially when compared to german or french. (believe me on this, native german speaker and got english+french in school (failing horribly at speaking french))

Still, second languages are always hard to learn.

I did alright with Spanish but I could never get the hang of French, either.

i beg to differ…im a native english speaker but am failing english and acing german…and english has too many rules…we like to say that “English is the language that hides in dark alleys waiting for other languages to come along so it can beat them over the head and scrouge loose grammar from their pockets.” aaarg

Dark Alley’s. Excellent description. English is an odd language from my experience. I picked French up fairly well in high school (well, almost all gone now), at least the rules were understandable. I may speak English, but it confuses me sometimes. Especially when writing. Too? To? Is there a difference! ARGH! And I’m reading Thomas Hobbes right now… Seventeenth Century English burns my eyes! And makes me want to sleep…

I also have been lead to understand that German bears a similarity to English on some levels, and that English is kind of a patchwork. I mean, it isn’t counted among the Latin based (romantic) languages but it does make use of Latin roots (Biblio or something, Bibliography, etc). And then there are other languages it steals from too (to?). And I hope I am replying to the right comment…

I still have trouble with accept and except. And I have a degree in English writing. :<

I have a college english professor for a dad. Greatest thing in the world when I have a paper to write for school.

I have to stop and think sometimes on some words. Others I stop to think about, then change what I was saying so I don’t have to think about spelling it. Wordier, but easier for my brain to handle.

D: I get the fact that remembering like, the terminology for part of English is difficult.. but I never did understand how people could fail at English. When English was their first language.

Then again my English comprehension and related scores have always been in the top percentages. And I have massive trouble learning other languages because I’m so strictly rooted in English grammar.

            Sad, pathetic English grammar. T_T

Jamie: Grammar! English grammar! I hate it with the passion and power of a thousand burning suns! (Which is almost as much as I hate trying to read stuff like: “n00bz r SUXXORS!” or something like that… I’m not actually sure what that means, I just pulled it out of my head). I read voraciously and can write fairly decent papers (if I do say so myself), but my grammar tends to be my undoing… even though I recognize it’s importance…

And for those who have trouble learning a different language there is always the choice of submerging yourself in an area that speaks said language. I went to Ottawa and stayed in a bilingual/francophone group and found myself able to communicate fairly well. And this was only for a week… Then again when I got back to my school I couldn’t understand half of what my French teacher was saying. Weird.

Wren: my Bio teacher (of all ppl) explained accept vs except fairly well (now lets see if i can remember it) ones a verb and the others a noun i think (but am not pissitive) that accept is the verb like “to accept a gift” and except is a noun-thingy like an “exception to the rules” (hey that made decent half sense!)
Jaime: i (semi-purposely) left out the fact that im a junior in high school taking a College level English course that focuses on disecting writing styles and purposes.
Canuovea: i agree grammar sucks…when the heck am i ever gonna need to kno what part is the preposition and the adjective vs the adverb! im not gonna sit here reading my book thinking “this is the subject and this is the object.”
“n00bz r suxxors” is leet speak and not english at but some twist geek code.
and finally i wish i could submerse myself in german culture…might actually this summer so if i stop commenting thats why.
