Wow! Didn’t expect to get such a reaction to this.

In response to random comments. Yes, they know who they insulted and don’t care that it insults the King or his Brother. Suksleys have been nobility far longer than Cecil… whom they probably don’t see as true nobility either, considering he was chose a king rather than born into the throne.

As you can see, their father heckles Cecil without much care. And all of his “Dumplings” (as we call the girls) have little fear in giving it to Ben either.

What can Ben do? Anything he might say or act out on publicly will be used to further incriminate him as Golbez at this point. And will certainly get him in a ton of trouble with Cecil. Which is probably just what the girls would like to see him do.

Why doesn’t Cecil just kick the Suksleys out of town?

I guess it’s a matter of diplomacy… considering Cecil is a Paladin and supposedly known for patience, kindness, generosity and love of Tuna. Afterall, the Suksleys haven’t really done anything WRONG. They’re just annoying.

It would be somewhat like the President of the USA throwing out people who make fun of him. Syn suggested that Cecil supports freedom of speech (as unusual as that might be in a medieval world)… and that means he has to take the bad with the good.

Aywren sez:

I want to say four. But I might be wrong. I have to check with Syn (she writes for that set of characters). I know there are at least two older daughters… maybe a third not shown here. And one much younger daughter.

Their mother is far, far worse though. ^_~

As a matter of fact, the full family name is Suksley La’Slyme.

Man, lemme tell you, I hate characters like that. But, they aren’t created to be loved, so… XD I guess you’re doing your jobs well, Wren and Syn.

I can understand the somewhat surprising level of animosity this strip has created because, unless you are the most popular girl or guy in high school, then we have all been there and had some ignorant little twit and her pack of boot-lickers verbally abuse us for no apparent reason. Power to the unpopular people and I hope Leona puts frogs in their corsets.

Well, Ben has his -quiet- ways of getting back at such people. As you will see. I think he sometimes annoys the Suksleys right back… because Ben does things they know is him but they can’t exactly prove. ^_~
