Kip: This guy is rolling in money…. and I know for a fact that he deals in the black market on magical artifacts and the like. He’s also got G… .. G… Golbezzzzzzzzzzzzz…. on his hit list.

Drake: Bah… what can mere human magic-trinkets do compared to brute strength and tactics?

Kip: When in Baron… Do as the humans do.

Just humor my attempt at poor perspective art. I know thee are things that are off. I’m working on backgrounds and structures this chapter, getting some practice in. So I hope I get better.

Despite the conical roofs looking a bit off, it’s a reaaaaally good attempt at perspective.

Yeah, I know it’s the roof that was the problem with this picture. I fought with it for a long time and eventually just gave up. Better luck next try. XD

That goes to show that just because you know rules of perspective (somewhat) doesn’t mean you always get it right. ^^;;;

The reason the roof is off is because you aren’t showing the underside of the eves and your shadowing shows all the way to the peak. Add an underneath look at the eves all the way around and don’t run the shadows all the way to the point and it will help a lot… future reference. Perspective is one of my worst enemies as well.

Hey! I just wanted to let you know that I just didn’t disappear from reading Wayrift! (If you had noticed) With the previous layout, for some reason, half of each page (the part with the comic) wouldn’t load properly for me >.< I found my way to accessing the images in order to read the comic, but I still couldn’t leave comments!

But now, with the new layout, everything loads perfectly! (Hurray!) So, back to easier reads and commenting

Anyway, don’t worry– backgrounds are hard! One thing you could try is decreasing the line weight as you go up the building– that’ll help to make it look more distant at the top.

And I wanted to say– reading Shimmer along side Wayrift, especially now in the story, is really engaging! ^_^

Firewolf! It’s great to hear from you again. I’m sorry that the old layout made it difficult for you to read and comment on — I wish I had known. But on the upside, I’m glad this layout fixes all that for you!

Thanks for your suggestion on the linework. I will be experimenting with lots of things in the upcoming chapter. So we’ll see how that comes out.

As for Shimmer and Wayrift, I rarely plan for things to be in sync between the two. But when they are, I enjoy it, too. I always wonder if folks are catching the subtle (and not so subtle) connections between the different story lines. I get a big kick out of hearing comments that point in the right direction.
