Drake: *flips backward, and pushes himself off the wall, diving towards the creatures*
Kip: *throws his hands forward, sending a bolt of energy at the nearest one*
*monster blows up in goo*
Kip: *insane laughter as lightning crackles everywhere* AHAHAHAAHAHAAH!!

I like the shading in the first panel! Very smooth and thorough. And other, positive, less vague adjectives.

Right…forgot. So, is nulification more of an automatic thing, or is it a spell?
I asked Syn about this just the other day when I was working on this chapter.
It’s not a spell in any form — it’s more of a null-field. It’s automatic around Drake. Which means any magical-type spell or energy thrown on him will fizzle out whether he likes it or not.
But for him to null out someone else’s magic (as he tends to when he’s fighting mages) or protect someone else by using it, Drake has to extend the field to that area.
Currently, Drake’s keeping his field to himself so that Kip, who is acting as his ally, can still use magic to benefit Drake’s side of the battle. But should Kip’s lightning/mind magic get too close to Drake, it would fuzz out before it hit him.

Nope, the only one who can fry Drake is Kory with some random machine that doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to… which would be equally as funny.
That makes sense. A non-magic field…that could wreak havoc in a field of magic flowers..

Drake jumping forward reminds me of how Scar jumped at Simba in the Lion King… I can’t believe I just now noticed that…
